Our Share of the Sky is a feminist poetry collection!During writing my masters' thesis, I went through too many moments of pain and agony when reading the stories of displaced women and what they went through in their lives. All the memories and trauma of violence and war were revealed outrageously. I know how those women feel and what they've been through because I am their partner in pain, gender, and/or nationality! To survive and keep working on the research, I turned to writing poetry.
تراتيل عذراء
Tartil Adhra تراتيل عذراء (Virgin Chants) 2012. This collection of stories examines the sensitives surrounding women’s place in society, issues of race and class, and an environment of violence. The publication was well received and appreciated by Arab critics and readers alike. The book was published by Dar Al Kotob Al Yemenia and it is held by various libraries, including Harvard University Library and The Library of Congress.
ربما مازلت حياً
In 2014, I finished my first novel (unpublished), Maybe I am Still Alive. This work tackles the meaning of life and death through the story of 13 Yemeni soldiers who are killed by Al-Qaeda in Yemen.
